What has the $5 per tournament fee done for you? Myself, I got a hat one year for qualifiing for the skins. It just doesn't add up. Do you choose to play tournaments specifically because they are in the Norcal Series?

Taxation without representation.

I appreciate you taking the time to express your concerns.  I hope that more of you will go to the Norcal facebook group were we have over 100 NorCal players signrd up.  I will be posting this conversation there also.

Last year all the fees went back into the series and Championships.

•   Awards
•   Fees
•   Players Package with DISC and SHIRT and STICKER and LUNCH
•   Overall awards
•   Top Players Awards
•   Players Party
•   We have also brought back the Hotshot Disc that will be given to the TD's to use at there event
•   We hosted a website that all players know they can find flyers including NON NORCAL EVENTS.
•   Our Board is available to help any TD that asks

The CVS charges $3 a player and Southern California Charges $25 Membership or a $5 non member fee.  Other organized sport leagues for example like bowling also charge fees.  I feel we offer a whole package that benefits our players.  The NorCal Series was formed back in the 80's and we are trying to bring it up to date.  I think if a person is unhappy they should try to put their suggestions or volunteer time into changing it.  This goes for any thing you are unhappy about.  Look at our Disc Golf Courses ....only a few people work on them...the majority play them.

One last thing, I've heard many complain about the NorCal Championship location.  I have asked every td if they would like to host the championship and have a few replies.  It cost my family gas and 3 nights food and lodging for me to go down early and work to be sure that event was organized and ready.  Do you think I wouldn't have like it to be closer?  I'm sorry that PDGA set Northern California is such a large area.  I've talked with a few good tds about having Central PDGA Series and it would be wonderful, but they don't the have time and I certainly do not have anymore time to try and set that up for them.

Ooops,.... Sorry.

I didn't mean that the funds never went back to the series players. However, I can see why you took it that way. I've never doubted your integrity. But, being on the furthest boundries of norcal, we just don't participate enough to make the fees worthwhile for us.

I appologize to you, and the Norcal Series Commitee.

Thanks for the clarification Jenny... so does Travers need to get ahold of you?  I am determined to try and get as many votes possible to have it up this way... that's a lot closer for ya too :-D
Forgive me if you see my enthusiastic behavior as complaining, but I am just a huge fan of disc golf and seeing this sport grow... not only for our community up here in GV-PV area... but all over globe! Cheesy
I know half of the folks up this way don't get on the internet enough to chime in on this topic, but I can assure you there is nothing but positive feedback about having the norcal champs up here... I am trying to get the locals to join FB and get involved moreso with the NorCal series instead of complaining like so many do and then do nothing about it.

Thanks for the clarification.  Sorry if it came off a little strong.  Guess I was trying to address more than one issue.   I really do want everyone to express their thoughts and suggestions.  Even when you don't agree.  We can't fix what we don't know is broken.

There are 3 reasons I suggest posting here and on facebook group:

1.  We do not have forums on the Norcalseries.com site.
2.  I want it to be clear that Final 9 Sports the business is not affiliated with Norcal Series other than we host 3 Norcal events.
3.  There's like a 120+ people in the group.

Regarding NorCal Championships - I will talk with Travers and Board about GV/Penn Valley.

2010 NorCal Schedule is almost complete! Just a few more confirmations.  Cheesy

Heck yea! Or just the Sierra Mountain Series.  You all have enough courses to make one - that's for sure!  Start the series in May and end in September - with King of the Lake being like the Championships.

That would be incredible.
Auburn Am
Motherload
Tahoe Pro/AM
Truckee Hula Bowl
King of the lake

On top of that you could start some new events, such as:
Finion Lake
Kirkwood
Turtle Rock
Truckee Sierra college course if it gets built.
Or any combo of courses close together.

Heck yea - Barsby and I were just BS'n over where the NorCal's might be this year... I haven't heard from Jenny on GV-PV, crossing our fingers!  But I also was thinking.... wouldn't a 2011 PDGA World Championship in Tahoe be insanely awesome!  It would have to be structured very well with the distance of courses... but that would be amazing.  Bring the worlds back to the west Smiley
